in Afghanistan in the late 1960s. Shook’s daughter and granddaughters of
Sedro-Woolley self-published a book using the letters Shook sent home from
Afghanistan about her experiences. The family is donating proceeds from the
sales of the book to help pay for much-needed medical supplies and micro-loans
for poor women in developing countries.
